Frequently asked questions

1. Do you photograph weddings in areas other than Devon, Cornwall & Somerset?

Yes, I am based in the wonderful seaside city of Plymouth in Devon with my family and it’s a fantastic region to live in! However, I am happy to travel anywhere to photograph your big day. I regularly photograph weddings throughout the South West, London, Manchester and Scotland. I’ve even been know to fly further afield.

2. How would you describe your style of photography?

I see my style as a documentary photo-journalistic photographer. Great photographs consist of strong compositions, observation, anticipation, great awareness of light and the vision to tell a story. It is these qualities I bring to my photography. Every couple and every wedding day is different and it’s through getting to know you and your story that informs my work. I unobtrusively observe your wedding day as it unfolds looking for those moments, the emotions and the celebration that it is. It’s also a rare occasion for your families to come together and therefore always recommend a selection of group shots too.

I love what I do and unfortunately I’m not all things to all people! I’m not about forced cheesy grins, jumping off walls like a bridal synchronised dance troupe, tilted angles, or spot colouring I’m afraid! What I do capture is your wedding day story through beautiful photographs.

3. Do you photograph in colour or black & white and do you edit all the images?

I use the best professional digital cameras. All the photos are captured in colour and I process all the photos into a combination of colour, black and white and some with more creative toning and finishing. I process all the photographs myself.

4.What if we want some formal and group shots?

Most couples and their family would like a few formal and group shots and of course I photograph them too. Many parents see these as an important part of any wedding day and they can be as formal or informal as you’d like.

5. Are you insured?

Yes I am fully insured. I have professional indemnity insurance along with public liability insurance.

It is also quite commonplace for many wedding venues to insist that all your suppliers have appropriate insurance, so I encourage you to make sure that every photographer you speak to also has full insurance.

6. What happens after the wedding?

Once your wedding is over, the things you will have to remind you of your wonderful day is the memories, stories and photographs. The wedding breakfast & cake will be eaten, the dress will be stored away and the flowers will wilt and fade.

Because of the importance to me of helping you cherish those memories, it may take up to four weeks for me to edit your wedding photographs, but I edit most weddings within two weeks!

I’ll upload your photos to a personal online gallery for all your family and friends and then send you the DVDs. You then have the opportunity to select the photos you’d like to see in an optional album or a signature framed print. The choice is yours.

7. Who selects the photos for our wedding album?

I prefer the couple to choose their favourite photos for the wedding album. I believe it’s important that the wedding album is created from the photos that are most meaningful and significant to the couple themselves. Once the photos have been selected, I’ll design the album layout and send the couple a PDF proof of the album. Once they are happy with the design and have chosen they’re cover the album will be ordered.

8. How do we book you?

You can complete the online form, email or phone me to check my availability for your wedding day or even better we can meet up for a coffee.

I require a completed and signed booking form and agreement and a non-refundable deposit of £400 to secure my services for your wedding date. The balance is payable 14 days before the wedding date.
